Teoresi is a rich and varied reality that is committed to promoting professional development and supporting the skills of its employees in the various branches of which it is composed. With the project People in Teoresi we want to tell you about the various human mosaic tiles of our company in Italy and abroad. Thereby, we also want to take the opportunity to think about issues related to culture and current topics in the world of work.
With the #womenintech column we started to share the experience of some colleagues in Teoresi through their first-person testimony. For those who have missed them, the videos of Donatella, Enza, Paola, Barbara are avaiable on our IGTV channel and on our Facebook and Linkedin pages.
Besides promoting the technical knowledge of our employees and collaborators, we are strongly convinced that soft skills are equally central for the success of business projects.
The italian website AlmaLaurea defines “soft skills” the interpersonal and behavioural skills that characterise the way of presenting one presents oneself in the working context. The most common are problem solving, creativity, negotiation, lateral thinking, management skills, team management, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, stress management and proactivity.
At a time of changing work dynamic due to the increase of smart working, these relational and behavioural skills have become even more important as individual workers are increasingly deciding how to use their time to meet commitments and deadlines for themselves.
However, compared to hard skills, soft skills are more difficult to develop since they are the result of a socio-cultural background and lived experiences.
We asked our colleagues to tell us about the greatest challenge they have ever experienced in their lives. We invited them to think of that one time in which they tested themselves by overcoming an obstacle that seemed insurmountable, a situation where a sacrifice did not turn out to be a burden but a gain.
Some have done the illustrations for a graphic novel, some have invented a strategic board game, some have ridden a bike until the North Cape, some have created a virtual world, some fly ultralight planes and some prefer sailing.
