Our final interviews and stop of Teoresi Air Lines sees us in Italy to have a chat with Carlo Riccio and Gerardo Amato.
Teoresi in Italy
Teoresi was founded in Italy in 1987, establishing its headquarters in Turin, a city historically recognized as a center of automotive and industrial innovation. Over the years, the company has expanded its national footprint with offices in Milan, Rome, Bologna, Modena, Naples, and more, reinforcing its presence across the country’s most important engineering and technology districts.
The Italian headquarters continues to serve as the strategic and operational core of the organization, supporting a wide network of customers and partners. It plays a central role in delivering advanced engineering solutions, particularly within the smart mobility, aerospace, life science, digital technology, and industrial sectors, while driving innovation and technological development across the Group.
Meet Carlo & Gerardo
Carlo Riccio has been a part of Teoresi since 2016, starting with a thesis in Natural Language Processing, then growing through roles in the Rail sector and project management. Now, Engineering Manager in Naples, they oversee project management across the group, ensuring quality, consistency, and support for teams, while also leading Agile training initiatives.
Gerardo Amato joined Teoresi in 2022 as an engineer in the Automotive sector. In 2025, Gerardo joined the Innovation Team and is serving as an Innovation Leader.
We spoke with them to tell the story of Italy through two different perspectives: Naples and Turin, project management and innovation, hands-on experience and fresh perspectives.
How would you describe the business culture in Italy?
From my perspective, Italy is a country rich in talent, energy, and potential. Even in the business world, there is a transformation underway: alongside the focus on results, there is a growing recognition of the importance of people and how they work together.
Results are essential, but they become even stronger when they are achieved by teams that collaborate effectively, feel valued, and have opportunities to grow.
The Agile mindset taught me to look at work from a different perspective: start with people. When people feel good, are listened to, supported, and given the space to take ownership, results follow in a more sustainable and meaningful way.
For me, this is not just a matter of workplace culture; it is also a matter of strategy. A team that works well together collaborates more effectively, finds better solutions, and continues to grow over time.
I believe this awareness is growing in Italy as well. It is a change that takes time, but it is moving in the right direction. And I like to think that everyone who embraces this way of working contributes, in their own way, to making it increasingly tangible and widespread.
What would you say differentiates Teoresi from the rest of our competitors?
What won me over about Teoresi, years ago, was exactly what I described as missing in much of the Italian landscape: The feeling that the people behind the work actually matter not just as resources, but as human beings with ambitions, needs and potential. That’s not something you find everywhere, and when you do find it, you hold on to it.
The other differentiator, for me personally, has been the opportunity for professional growth. My journey from a thesis student to Engineering Manager is proof of that.
Of course, growth in a company with an unconventional expansion path comes with its natural limits and challenges; nothing is perfect, and I wouldn’t pretend otherwise. But the direction has always been clear, and the space to evolve has always been there for those willing to put in the work.
In a market full of competitors, that combination — people-first culture and real growth opportunities is what makes Teoresi stand out. At least, it’s what kept me here for almost a decade.
What do you personally enjoy about working at this location?
Naples is not just a city, it’s a state of mind. And that energy, that warmth, that almost irrational sense of community seeps into everything, including the way we work. There’s a level of collaboration here that I genuinely believe is unique, and that the Neapolitan spirit plays a big part in keeping alive. People don’t just work together, they look out for each other, they show up for each other, they argue passionately and then go for a coffee together five minutes later. That’s Naples.
But as I’ve said before, and I’ll keep saying it, it always comes down to people. The city sets the stage, but it’s the people who make the difference, for better or for worse. I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside people who have pushed me, challenged me, taught me and supported me. That’s not something you take for granted.
Coming to the office in Naples doesn’t feel like a burden. It feels like showing up to a place where things actually happen, where the human connection is real, and where the chaos, very Neapolitan chaos, somehow always finds its own order.
Gerardo:
What makes Turin a special city for engineers to work in?
I think there is a very developed and sparkling industry environment challenging enough to become attractive! Especially for those who love challenges, like me!
What’s something about your role people outside engineering wouldn’t expect?
People outside engineering might not expect how much of my role is centered on people and collaboration. Beyond technology, I work on innovation projects that bring together different teams, and I also supervise thesis projects with university students. This means listening, guiding ideas, and helping others transform their intuition into something concrete.
It’s less about pure technical work and more about curiosity, teamwork, supporting new talent as they shape the future, and helping others see the value behind an idea.
Have you worked with colleagues from other Teoresi offices or countries? What do you enjoy most about working in a culturally diverse team?
I have enough experience to say that this is exactly the “soul of Teoresi”. Different operational locations allow us to carry forward shared ideas, taking advantage of the proximity to various academic and industrial ecosystems to stay closely connected to today’s corporate world.
The real challenge now is to achieve the same level of collaboration internationally, and that’s where the most exciting opportunities lie.
With this final stop, Teoresi Air Lines comes to a close, bringing together a journey across our global locations and the voices that define them. It’s a snapshot of how our international presence comes to life through people, experiences, and shared expertise.
Thank you for flying with Teoresi Air Lines!
