Oceans are a vital ecosystem: they regulate the climate, host unique biodiversity, and support the lives of billions of people. Yet every year, large amounts of plastic – and other waste – end up in the sea, breaking down into fragments and harming habitats, species, and coastal communities.
To make a concrete contribution to the protection of marine ecosystems, we partnered with Ogyre, an Italian startup, B Corp, and benefit corporation. Through the Fishing for Litter program, Ogyre engages an international network of professional fishers to recover marine waste during their regular fishing activities, documenting each operation through digital traceability systems.
This collaboration is part of Teoresi Go!, the program that brings together our ESG initiatives and turns them into measurable actions. Our shared goal for 2025 was to support the collection of 1,000 kg of marine waste.
Campaign results
At the end of this journey, we reached our target: 1,000 kg of marine waste recovered through Ogyre projects active in Indonesia, Brazil, and Italy – symbolically equivalent to 100,000 PET 0.5 L bottles, the most common plastic used in single-use products.
Certified data:
- 1,000 kg of waste collected
- 350 kg of materials recycled or recovered
- An estimated 100 kg/year reduction in microplastics released into the environment
- 21 fishers involved in the operations
- 455 kg of CO₂ avoided thanks to additional recycling
- 500 kWh generated from the recovery of non-recyclable materials
- Contribution to 6 UN SDGs (6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17)
The impact is both environmental and social: recovery activities support ecosystem health while ensuring protected, fairly paid work for the coastal communities involved.
A shared gesture
This year, we chose to replace traditional gifts with a symbolic one: sharing the results of our campaign with clients and partners.
Through a dedicated page, they were able to explore the project in depth, consult SGS-certified data, and fully understand the value of the impact generated together.
