Marine litter off, value on: united for a cleaner sea
DiversityInclusionWell-beingWorkplaceThe collaboration between Teoresi and Ogyre stems from a shared commitment to protecting marine ecosystems, combining environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and technological innovation.
Ogyre is an Italian startup, B Corp, and benefit corporation that has developed a virtuous model to combat marine pollution by engaging an international network of fishermen in retrieving marine litter during – or as an alternative to – their regular fishing activities.

- 1,000 kg of marine litter removed from the sea
Teoresi directly supports the removal of ocean waste by partnering with Ogyre’s Fishing for litter program. The collected materials are delivered to recycling chains, contributing to the regeneration of the marine ecosystem. - A tangible social impact
For every fishing trip and every kilo of plastic collected, participating fishermen receive financial compensation. In some contexts, this supplements income and supports the local economy; in others—particularly in developing countries—it helps formalize employment, protect workers, and generate both social and environmental value. - Blockchain-based traceability
Every step of the process—from collection to disposal—is tracked through a blockchain-powered platform, ensuring maximum transparency and data accuracy. Each clean-up activity is verifiable and certified.
- Local action, systemic impact
The coastal clean-up organized in Recco (Genoa) was far more than a symbolic gesture. By recording the collected materials on Marine LitterWatch—an initiative of the European Environment Agency—the activity contributed to building a reliable and accessible data pool. Only coastal clean-ups generate this kind of valuable data, which is essential for shaping effective environmental policies and European regulations.
This initiative supports marine ecosystem health through litter removal and creates value for coastal communities by supplementing fishermen’s income and fostering a circular economy based on responsibility and regeneration.
“At Teoresi, we believe that environmental and social sustainability isn’t a side effort—it’s an integral part of who we are. Because we’re driven by a passion for innovation, we also believe that innovating means finding new ways to take care of the world around us. Supporting Ogyre is a small symbolic act, part of a much broader journey. We chose to contribute to Ocean Month not only by supporting the project but by taking action: some of our colleagues personally joined a beach clean-up day.”
